Yu-u-u-u-mmy!

This tea is soooo good! I absolutely love it! I've been in the Christmasy mood for quite some time now- way before Halloween, and our tree would be up if it weren't for our impending move. I just love this time of year! We're wanting to get snowed in at the ranch to be able to play in the snow (that has yet to come). But before we rush into Christmas, we have THANKSGIVING! Not as fun to decorate...but still fun. We're especially excited because we're going to visit Jorge's brother and his family in Dallas. So, we're wishing everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving! Eat lots of turkey!

We're Alive

Just a quick note to let everyone know we're alive! I know it's the middle of November, and I'm a slacker for not posting Halloween pictures earlier- sorry. This was a few days before Halloween, Reuben was attached to his costume. My computer is still hating, so I can't put pictures up....more to come later. Jace was a bear, and they both were super cute (in my biased opinion). We took the boys to the Halloween NICU reunion at Providence Hospital- and caught up with some friends, nurses, etc. It was fun. Then our ward had the kids go on a hay ride trick-or-treating, ending up at an outdoor little party with chili, desserts, and hot chocolate. I've never been a huge fan of Halloween, but it was fun to dress the kids up and we do benefit from them not being able to eat all the candy- although, trust me- Reuben is STILL trying. We're in the middle of flipping a house, and I must admit- it's more relaxing to sit and watch it on tv from start to finish in 30 minutes. Jorge and I love this, but we have so many good ideas (good and humble) that it takes us a long time to reach our final decision. We had the round up this last weekend....testing cows and bulls- I've known how it's done but have never been there for it....interesting. That's all I have to say. Poor Reuben was held hostage because I didn't want him in the corrals with Jorge- call me paranoid but he's still alive so I'm ok with being paranoid. Lots of pregnant cows, so it was a good weekend. Jace is rolling around like crazy, and will soon have his 1st tooth (I know I've been saying that for 3 months, this time I think it's for real! we'll see!) Reuben was roping his tricycle, and Jace was asleep and now they're both awake and hungry so I need to go. Jorge's out selling cattle to bring home the bacon, or beef- as the case may be. This Thanksgiving season I'm soooo thankful for my little family- I have the best 3 boys ever!

Ode to Jorge

Jorge always does this with Reuben- the diaper on the head thing (father-son bonding?). I guess since Jorge's gone, Reuben decided to step it up a notch and teach Jace. Notice he brought 2 diapers- one for himself and one for Jace. I was in the other room and snuck in to take pictures. Reuben was telling Jace, "oma!" Translation: "Toma!" Translation: "Take it!" What an awesome big brother!

Missing Daddy

Confessions

So, Jorge laughed when I typed "Whetten Familia"- because it SHOULD be "Familia Whetten". However, the majority of people reading it will speak English. Ok, let's be honest- Becky (my only devoted reader) speaks English (and French- she's talented). Just so you all know- I do know it should be the other way around. Spanglish people. It is one thing for me to know I'm dumb, it is quite another for others to think I am. We have language problems in our home anyway. This is Reuben, "Agua!" so I fill his sippy with water...."NO!!! AGUA!" Agua is currently anything liquid, and apparently my translation of agua to water was incorrect. He wanted milk- so I tell him "Reuben, this is milk.....leche." He looks, sippy of milk in hand, big smile..."AGUA!" and runs off to play. Ok, my morning confession: We all sleep in the same room. Yes, we live in a house with 7 bedrooms and the 4 of us sleep in the same room. And I must admit, I kind of like it. I feel safe. We now have Reuben in a toddler bed, and Jace in a crib- and somewhere in the middle of the night we all end up in our bed. I then proceed to take Reuben and Jace to their rightful places, because I cannot sleep with them there- but I am jealous that Jorge can (that is- until Reuben kicks him in the face- has happened!) We're moving in the next month, and we PLAN (key word: plan) to move the boys into their own room then. This way it's moving them together so Reuben doesn't feel kicked out because of Jace. They'll transition together. Wish us luck. We'll need it. My next aspiration: potty training. Let's see- another confession- I want to paint my kitchen red. I know that psychologically speaking red is not the color of calmness, but let's be honest- since when is my kitchen calm?! It's not a circusy red, but a sienna- darker bricktype red. I'm actually quite excited.

I hate naptime

So far so good. Reuben is doing ok with Jorge gone, even though I had to give him a rice krispy treat and let him watch cartoons (I'm not against bribery!). However, when he naps- life gets hectic. He wakes up grouchy, searching for Jorge, and ultimately forgetting that he was once ok with the fact that his daddy is gone. Would I be a bad mom if I let him skip naps all week???

Biker Shorts- YUCK

A few minutes ago I was about to be sad- Jace didn't want me to hold him! He wanted to play on the floor with Reuben. He turned 5 months old yesterday and I had a quick thought that he won't want to cuddle and be my baby for very long. With Reuben being born 3 months early, we had a baby for a little longer- but Jace is growing so fast! I started thinking about how we'll have to wait 3 years before the next (and last if it's a SHE) and I got a little sad because I wanted them so close. On a lighter note- it got me thinking about things I LOVE and other things I despise. I LOVE my husband. I love how he sings loud and dances silly to make me laugh (and how it makes me sick that he's in perfect step with the music even though he's acting crazy). I LOVE how Reuben quietly sneaks in bed with us and steals my pillow. I LOVE when Jace giggles when I lift my shirt (typical boy! haha) even though I'm not a big fan of breastfeeding. I love my life! Now, the not-so-in-love with things: BIKER SHORTS & SPEEDOS! enough said. People who have a wedgy and don't pick it- how do they not feel it?!

SO sad!

Jorge left this morning, and will be gone all week. It really is sad, because I love him so much and miss him like crazy. He truly is my best friend, but not just mine- Reuben's too! As sad as it is to see him go, it's even sadder to watch Reuben chasing him around the house with his boots (he knows he can't go with him without shoes). AND he's still in his pajamas!

Type A problems

So, I may be too much of a perfectionist to have a blog. Well, that and I'm somewhat computer stupid! I have no idea how to add a message AND a slideshow in the same post (while I am pretty proud to have figured out the slideshow). Also, I don't know how to fix the pictures I put on the left- I suppose it's the template making them look offcentered. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. UNTIL THEN...the slideshow is basically some more recent pictures of the boys. In order of appearance:
1. Reuben's opera face (he really was singing)
2. Potty training (yeah right!)
3. My brown-eyed baby, Jace! (atleast I think they're brown)
4. Jace hanging out in the excersaucer, as happy as ever...probably while I do this!
5. Matchy matchy! green squared! -name that movie.
6. "We're #1!"
7. Cousins and friends chowing on tortillas (who needs cookies, we're in Mexico!)
8. I always give Reuben the oats out of my Lucky Charms, so while I was away he was sneaking all the marshmallows!
9. And obviously wasn't very good hiding the evidence!

I'M A BLOGGER!

So...my sister got me addicted to blogs. I am a blog reader, and seriously get a taunted joy out of reading other's blogs. It's like secretly reading someone's journal- which I've always wanted to do (never have). But then my conscience kicks in and I feel it's unfair to not have my own. Besides, what mom wouldn't want another avenue to show off her kids! So, yes- I am a blogger. Not a booger. I have to be careful with my words- here was how my morning began:
Me: Reuben, you're poopy. Come here poopy and let me change you.
Reuben: No puppy (pronounced "poopy" with a sad face). Vaca!
Me: Ok vaca. Come here and let me change you.
He was so happy to be vaca that he ran over and practically changed himself! Have a good day and enjoy my attempt at blogging!
